Twitter Test, fail

So I was testing out whether or not twitter digests would bring more visitors to my blog, and the answer is no. It just creates more mess than anything else. So i’ve removed all the digests from the site.

Painting

Its a wonder as to what a new coat of paint can do to a room. It can freshen things up, make it look newer, or change the mood of the room. Yesterday we decided to paint the spare bedroom. A full paint; walls, ceiling and trim. Also added the addition of new curtains to the room and removed the blinds that were devowered by the dogs. 5 hrs after buying all supplies and doing the prep work, the room was finished. Albet we are not professional painters by no means, but we got the job done. I assume this week will consist of touch-ups and looking for pictures to hang on the walls.

Old age and politics

Now those two things usually go hand in hand, and give a good impression of what our American democracy is built upon, but if you look at the two as seperate entities there is a large and glaring desparity between them.

Yesterday, John McCain went on air stating he would be suspending his campaign to focus on the economic crisis at hand. Meanwhile Barack Obama responded by saying a job of a President is to be able to handle multiple tasks at one time. MCcain’s bailout seems to come at an odd time. Why didnt he suspend his campaign a week or so ago during the AIG mess? Would it have to do with slipping pole numbers? Or maybe the fact he wants to take the attention off of his VP running mate for a while?

Whatever the reason is, McCain seems to be suffering from old age mentality where focusing on more than one crisis is just too much for his old brain to handle. Kinda scary right? I mean what is he going to do if something huge were to happen? Send in Palin? If that were the case watch out for soccer mom mentalities. In the most unlikely chance that McCain gets elected, maybe by year 3, Palin will finally know what the job of the VP is, McCain may also be dead by then.

Neighbors

why all in caps?

why all in caps?

I have one of those, actually 2. But i’m not just talking about normal neighbors, i’m talking about “those” neighbors. You know, the ones that are all up in your business. Who can’t seem to get a life and feel that they need to be in yours. For some reason I seem to be needing someone like that. My “friendly” neighbor aka annoying greywolf, thought I could use some help with my yard. So to “help” me, she decided to send over someone who did work on her yard. Now I’m in now way an invalid and am fully capable in keeping up my own yard, I just dont feel that I need to be meticulas in everything I do with it.

The business card left in my front screen door was her way of saying, hey your yard looks like shit and I think you need to have someone do something to it. When in reality my yard is perfectly fine. I however am not made of money where I can just throw it around and have every little service done for me (unlike she seems to have).

I have the urge to put a business card on her front door and maybe a bag of flaming dog poo on her doorstep ala Billy Madison.

Heros, jumped the shark?

Well the new season of Heros started last night in a big 3 hr premier. Everyone seems to be back in the show, even some old people we thought were killed back in season 1. However, the question is did Hero’s jump the shark last night? I think they may of jumped a baby one. Just for the reason alone that the writers are seamingly changing the storylines of certain characters, just to keep them on the show. For instance, Jessica. Jessica/Nikki was the character everyone loved to hate, we didnt really care whether or not she was on the show at all. So at the end of last season it seemed as if we would be done with her character line, but it seems the writers would rather resurrect her from the grave and give her some sort of new identity (personality) and powers. Cold as ice Tracy? I think the characters name was Tracy that they gave her (shows you how memerable, her character story is).

Also, where is Micah? Why didnt Sylar try to kill Claire ( not following M.O.), why is Noah relienquishing his fatherly role to Claires real mother when he’s been so protective of her in the past? Why didnt Peter just teleport out of the lockdown area or even when he had escaped.

I just hope that the season picks up and doesnt disappoint as much as it did in season 2. Its been a long time coming for the show to be back on, but we need more of the Hiro comedic/destiny storyline…thats where the real action lies.

Best Crackers

I must say that the best snack to have at the office is a large container of animal crackers. Not just any brand, but they must be the Kirkland Organic Animal Crackers (Costco). The have more of a vanilla flavor to them and they are delicious. I recommend that you go out and buy a container now.

Home ownership continued…

2 weeks ago I started to deal with my first big home project. My water heater died. Yep, flooding and all it completly died. The flooding only extended for half of the laundry room which luckly wasnt too bad. However it did reach the carpet and soaked in about 2 feet.

To tackle the repair first we went and bought a steam-vac. After about 3 hrs of cleaning/steaming/draining of water and carpet ( around 1am), we decided to call it a night.

One week goes by because for some reason my finances are all out of whack, but once I have the cash on hand I make the purchase of a new water heater. Of course they dont have the exact same one I had because it was installed in 1987 (I guess it reached its’ productive life cycle). Take the heater home and find out that one, its fairly taller than the old one and two, it doesnt fully fit into the space due to the height and the humidifyer installed into the furnance. Easy fix, remove the humidifyer.

Once the humidifyer was removed it was all fairly easy install after that. Pipes sweated, 3 times because we forgot to put the coupler on before sweating the flange to the pipe. Once all was installed the moment of truth had come, starting up the beast. Hold primer, press ignitor and…. NOTHING. Pilot doesnt light. Air is in the gas line and its 8:45pm. Some of the ideas for a solution to the problem was, turn on and off the gas at the cut-off, unsweat pipes and let gas flow, or hold down primer longer and then try and ignite. Last one worked cause all the others had almost a 100% chance of eyebrow loss or more.

All in all, the installation was a success and now the basement doesnt flood and I have hot water. Deaths usually come in 3’s though…crossing fingers nothing else goes.

What makes a home?

So i’ve finally purchased a kitchen table. After 5 years without one (surving), I’ve finally taken the plunge. Mostly because my parents have been hounding me for years to get one and for the fact my sister will be staying at my place for 3 days with the baby. Which reminds me that I need to clean up the place a bit. Its a bit bachelorish still.

Total Lunar Eclipse and Errant Spy Satellite

This makes for an exciting evening. Watch the total lunar eclipse or watch on the news as the U.S. attempts to shoot down a satellite via missle launch. What could go wrong? They have 3 attempts.
